Brass Bands Northern Ireland would like to announce the formation of The National Youth Brass Band of Northern Ireland. The event is currently at discussion stage, but we would like to share the information we have so far.
Musical Director
BBNI are delighted to welcome Les Neish as our Musical Director for the inaugural NYBBNI 2026. As many of you will know Les is a world-renowned musician and educator who has served as a tutor for the National Youth Brass Bands of Great Britain, Scotland, Wales and Switzerland nurturing the next generation of brass musicians.
Tutors
We hope to appoint a team of top brass and percussion tutors from across Northern Ireland.
When Will NYBBNI Take Place?
BBNI have a provisional plan in place, this is subject to change.

- Saturday 14th March – Sectionals / Whole Band Rehearsal 2
- Saturday 21st March – Sectionals / Whole Band Rehearsal 3 / CONCERT
Attendees must commit to attend all 3 dates. Rehearsal venues will be confirmed at a later date.
Who Can Attend?

Grade 5 standard can be evidenced either by providing a Grade 5 Certificate or a letter from the young person’s tutor / band conductor.
What Will It Cost?
The cost is expected to be around £50 per young person.
What Do I Need to Do Now?
We are currently seeking expressions of interest from bands. If you have any young people who would be interested, please complete the online form below to let us know details. This isn’t a commitment to attend NYBBNI.
