Over 100 brass musicians descended on Belfast on Saturday for Brass Band NI’s Solo & Ensemble Competition.
The ever-popular event showcased top quality brass talent with entries from across Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland and Great Britain.
In the youth section, adjudicator Charles Fyffe was encouraged to see the wealth of young musicians coming through the ranks in local bands. He had a tough job deciding trophy winners due to the high standard of performances on offer.
In the chilly environment of the Senior Section (due to a fault with the heating system) adjudicator Chris Wormald was thoroughly impressed by the level of musicianship with some top quality renditions of very challenging repertoire.
The executive committee of Brass Bands NI would like to thank all of our competitors on the day for a splendid day of music making. Also to Malone Presbyterian Church for the use of their fantastic facilities and finally, to all of the volunteers who prepared the venue and helped the event run so smoottly.
