BBNI Solos and Ensembles/Youth Development Weekend
BBNI are very excited to announce that alongside our annual Solos and Ensembles event, we will all be hosting a Youth Development Workshop on Friday 10th February 2023 from 7.30pm to 9.30pm in the rehearsal rooms of Downshire Brass.
Paul Fisher is involved with Brass Bands England and is the lead teacher in Brass for Hertfordshire Music Service and is also Principal Conductor of the Hertfordshire County Youth Brass. This Youth Development Workshop is for Youth Band leaders/helpers who would like new ideas for engaging young people. Amongst other things they will be shown rhythm/listening/focus games which they can then take back to the bandroom and use in beginner groups/junior groups. This is a free workshop organised by the BBNI to try and help anyone engage with teaching young people music and we would like to encourage as many people as possible to attend. Paul Kirk and myself witnessed Paul Fisher in action at a BBE conference a few years ago and were very impressed with his energy and attitude which is why we have invited him over for this workshop.
During the day on Saturday Paul Fisher will also be doing short ‘breakout’ sessions between each class/group of classes (dependent on numbers). These breakout sessions will aim to develop the knowledge and skills of all the young musicians taking part and the price of attending these is included in the entry fee.
If anyone wants to find out more about either of our adjudicators (Brendan Breslin for our Senior Classes and Paul Fisher for our Youth classes) please check out:
